Do You Hear Him?

Dear Heart Friend,

I sure wish we could be sitting together somewhere looking out at the beauty of fall colors that are starting to usher in a new season! Oh, how I’d love to be taking in the savory sips of a piping hot Pumpkin Spice latte with you as I share this song! But for now, this will have to do….and I’m so glad you came here today. I encourage you to take a moment to yourself, put aside the cell phone and the long to-do lists, find yourself a cozy little space and PAUSE…

Breathe in the fresh, cool air of Fall

Look out to the beautiful scenery around you

Allow Him to captivate you by His Holiness

Listen for Him to speak to YOU

I believe, when we lean in close, when we stop to observe His wonderous Creation, when we quiet down the outside noise and begin to listen for His Voice…..It is THEN, that we make way to receive all that our loving Heavenly Father so desperately wants us to know about Him and about His heart for us….

He wants to tell you…..

….that YOU are Loved

….that He sees what you are going through

….that He knows the beginning of your story

….AND He knows the end AND all the days in between

….that there is a purpose behind all that He allows into your life

….that He is with you Always.

Precious Sister, I know these days are long and some are harder than others. I know that to us what these days ahead may hold may feel a bit uncertain. But, let us not forget that we are to live our lives here in light of eternity! This not our “forever” home. There is a place that He has prepared for us that is far greater. And until that day He calls us home to be with Him forever, we have the blessing of living life on this earth, being confident that He has not left us alone!

As His Daughters, saved by the Grace of Jesus, we have the promise of His Holy Spirit. HIS Spirit that came to live in us the moment we said “yes” to the Grace of God!

We can’t forget that although the circumstances in our world can work to distract and discourage us, there is TRUTH that we must hold on to!

Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in ME you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have OVERCOME the world!” John 16:33

As we hold on in our hearts to the reminder of the HOPE that we have in Jesus, Our Overcomer; the HOPE of His Holy Spirit dwelling in us; the HOPE that there is a far greater place being prepared for us; may we take time to pause our daily routines to notice His Presence, to see His Hand at work and to listen for the Voice of God.

In His Love,

Stacey

Voice of God by Dante Bowe

Come to the Table

Psalm 23:5-6 “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Dear One,

How are you today? How are things going in your life? Are you experiencing the goodness and mercy of the Lord?

Certainly, we’re all feeling the heavy emotions that living in our world today can bring. The headlines in the news and social media do a good job at reminding us of all that is wrong in the world. In most of California, and in many areas of the Pacific Northwest, we can’t look far beyond our own front doors to see the smoke filled skies and wonder if we’ll ever be able to breathe in fresh air again. The political campaigns and uncertain outcomes of the upcoming election, the religious divides and the continual presence of lines that divide and bring disunity…..it’s enough to bring one down into the pit of despair and hopelessness.

It can be difficult to walk in the discipline of self-control and limit our intake of such negative feedback and allow ourselves to stay reminded that even in the midst of all that appears “wrong” in our world, our God is still good and His Mercy endures forever! Jesus is our One True Hope!

As one who has spent a large portion of her life struggling with the effects of depression and learning to depend on the power of the Holy Spirit and the truth of God’s Word, I can say that I truly know the struggle it is to deny the voice of the enemy and the oppression worldly circumstances can bring. To resolve our hearts and minds to believing in the goodness and mercy of God, no matter the circumstances, requires a heart that is willing to accept God at His Word as we surrender and trust our lives to Him.

Psalm 23 is a beautiful Psalm to remind us of this faithfulness of our God. Even though “I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil…” Why? Because, “He is with me”.

God serves as our Protector and our Comforter. He prepares a table for us to come and sit and dine with Him! What do we typically do when we have friends or family over for dinner? We fellowship with them. We share our life together, what good things are going on and what hard things we may be facing, we pray together, we laugh together…we enjoy each other’s company!

Friends, that is what God is calling us to….He’s prepared a place for us at His Table! He’s inviting us to come, brining our sorrows, our joys, our prayers and our praises to Him. He longs to enjoy company with us!

Are you accepting His daily invitation to join Him at His banqueting table? He has much He wants to share with you! He longs to anoint your head with oil and refresh your cup so that you might leave encouraged and equipped with a cup that is running over, ready to pour the love and goodness of God onto others. His promises are true and He will be with you all the days of your life….He simply asks you to “Come”.

Father, Thank You for these beautiful friends that will read this post. May You use the Words of Psalm 23 to bring comfort to those who are feeling weary today. May they be reminded of the invitation to come to Your banqueting table and may You grant them a longing in their hearts to spend time with You each day. Thank You that You never stop pursuing us, Father, and that You promise to be with us all the days of our lives. May we spend today recounting all the ways that You are good and giving You praise for Your unending Mercy and Grace. Amen.

Blessings of Grace,

Stacey

God is ALWAYS GOOD….no matter what!

Good Morning Sweet Friends,

So glad you’re here! I couldn’t wait to share this song with you….perhaps you’ve heard it?  I think the words couldn’t be more fitting to bringing us a message that our hearts are desperate to be reminded of….“It’s gonna be okay!”

No matter the circumstances that surround us, we can cling to the Promises of our God…remembering that He is true to His Word and Faithful to begin what He’s started.

He promises He’ll never leave us nor abandon us ~ Joshua 1:8-9

He promises that He is working all things together for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose. ~ Romans 8:28-29

He promises that the trials we face are temporary and this earth, and all the suffering in it, is not our forever home….we will one day be with Him in glory! ~  2 Corithians 4:16-18

Friend, no matter what you face today, know that YOU are LOVED by our Heavenly Father, the very One who created us!  We can cling to the truth found in and through the beautiful gift of His Word.  We can trust in the character of our God Almighty and we can know without a shadow of doubt…..that He is Good and…..”it’s gonna be okay!”

Hi Sweet Friend!

How are YOU?!  Are you staying hopeful in this season of so many unknowns?  Are you facing challenging circumstances and trying to gain wisdom on what the days ahead may hold?  It’s definitely not easy making plans these days and we long for the times where we can be together in person with the ones we love. We miss the simplicity of a firm hand shake, the hug of comfort from a good, long-time friend and seeing the smiles on faces that remind us that a “smile is worth a thousand words!”

I know these days are difficult and amidst all that we are “missing”, I felt the challenge to “Remember!”  Not just to remember how the “good ‘ole days” used to be but more importantly, to focus my gaze upon remembering the Promises of God!

It’s in the Word that we find that God has much to say about the careful and intentional practice of “remembering…”

Remembering is the process of recalling the past, especially the presence and activity of God in the history of His people.  Remembering God’s work in the past can lead to praise and rejoicing, and to hope for the future! God Himself remembers….(reference: Bible Gateway)

In God’s Divine Remembering ***

He Always remembers His Covenant ~ “He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and full of compassion. He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be mindful of His covenant.” Psalm 111:4-5

He Always remembers His Promises ~ “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

He Always remembers His People ~ “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb?  Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you, (says the Lord).  See, I have inscribed you on the palm of My hands; your walls are continually before Me.” Isaiah 49:15-16

Through God’s Word, we see that God is faithful and He keeps His promises to His people! What we choose to do with this truth about His character is incredibly important to our daily living!!  This truth has the ability to bring us great Hope and Encouragement!

With great blessing comes great responsibility!

God is not a god of “force”.  He clearly provides the instruction for how He desires us to live! He also gives us the privilege of deciding whether or not we will trust Him enough to obey!

You see, the key to “Remembering,” lies in the way we approach the Word?  Do we read it and simply move on, checking the box, stating, “yea, I read the Word,”?

OR do we allow God, through our reliance on the POWER of HIS HOLY SPIRIT, to move His truth from simply becoming “more head knowledge” to actually having the power to transform our minds and guide our lives?

It is through our dependence upon the power of His indwelling Spirit that it is even possible for us to ~

Remember

God’s character and the abundant ways He’s demonstrated His faithfulness in the past,

Remember

God’s commands and the responsibility that we are to love one another,

Remember

the depravity of our sinful, fallen state and the amazing grace of Jesus as He took our sins upon Himself and died for us on the cross.

Remember

the Victory of Jesus raising from death to life, so that we might find our Joy complete in Him.

Remember

this Victory in Christ will lead us to our Eternal Home and we can be comforted by the fact that we are just sojourners through this broken world. This is only our temporary home!

When we receive the Truth of the love and grace of Jesus, we are promised the gift of the Holy Spirit!

Jesus explained to His disciples, just before He was about to die, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your REMEMBRANCE all things, that I said to you.  Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:26-27

Friends!!  This is INCREDIBLE ~ His Spirit indwells within us!  The same POWER that raised Jesus from the dead, is the same POWER that we have living inside us!  The Holy Spirit is our Guide and Our Comforter!  He intercedes for us and gives us the assurance of our salvation!

As we learn to depend on Him, we find that He gives us all we need to face the trials in this world.  We can walk forward each day, knowing that we are never alone!

We don’t have to simply look at our circumstances or the current state of our world in fear! Rather, we can cling to the Promises of our Faithful God and in our dependence upon His Spirit, we can be REMINDED of all the ways there are to give Him Praise!

May we all continue to lean into His promises and find peace in the gentle surrender of our circumstances to our loving Father.

Remember ~ YOU are Seen, YOU are Known and YOU are Loved!

Stay well friends!

With all my love and prayers,

Stacey

Be Still and Know….

Oh Dear Sweet Soul,

I’m so glad you’re here.  I wonder where your heart is today amidst the uncertainties we are facing in our world.  I wonder, if you’re like me, finding yourself pondering what today, tomorrow and the days ahead may hold.  Are you fearful? Anxious? Downcast?

Take comfort, friend, you are not alone.

Are you seeking to make sense of all the news reports, to funnel out the truth you need to know in hopes that you might stay educated to the ever-changing events?  Are you seeking to discern these things through the lens of scripture, wondering what God, your Maker, has to say about these days?

My dear friend, there is HOPE and we find it in God’s Word!

Although the circumstances we face may feel dark and hopeless and may be a way for us to be tempted to let fear and anxiety rise their ugly heads, we do have a CHOICE.

The Lord has given us promises and help to combat our fears! Do you see it?  Can you hear Him calling to us?  Our Lord is with us and He is our Refuge!  We find safety resting in His loving arms and CHOOSING to look unto His Word instead of the headlines.  We need not be fearful for He is with us… Always (Joshua 1:8-9)!  His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path! (Psalm 119:105)

“There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.  The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His Voice, the earth melted.  The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.  Come, Behold the works of the Lord, Who has made desolations in the earth.  He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.

Be still and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.”

Psalm 46:4-11

Take Heart, Sweet Soul!  Our God is Good and Worthy to be praised.  We can choose this day to exalt Him and give Him thanks.  We can choose to press into His loving word, find refreshment in His Promises and rest in His PEACE…..and yes, even amidst these trying times!  He’s calling to us…”Come, Behold, Know that I am God. (I will be your refuge.)”

Do You Know Him? JESUS, the Name Above All Names

Jesus-King-of-Kings-3-768x432

For God SO LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be savedHe who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16-18

As our world stands in crisis and we are forced to practice “social distancing”, we are finding ourselves in a place we have never faced before.  We are living in a culture where our “control” over where we go and how we live out our lives seems to be slipping away.  It’s interesting to see how we as a culture can tend to feel a façade of peace and goodness in our lives, when we think we’re in control of something.  However, take that control out of our hands and we become prone to fear and anxiety….thus the media hype and sense of paranoia.

The fear and anxiety begins to reveal what we truly place our hope in and begins to expose the reality of our hearts.  Are we placing our trust in the wrong thing?

Friends, we have a Promise given to us in the Word of God, the Bible, that whoever BELIEVES in the Son of God, shall not perish but have EVERLASTING LIFE!  This Son of God, His Name is JESUS, and He loves YOU so much that He gave His life for you!  The Word tells us that All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. (Romans 3:23).  But God, our Heavenly Father, had a plan since the beginning of time.  And that plan was that He would provide us a Redeemer that would take our sin upon Himself and pay the ultimate price of death to sin by being nailed upon a cross.  He did this so that we would be Justified freely by this amazing Gift of His Grace.  He paid the price for sin so that we wouldn’t have to!  We are saved by His Grace, through Faith in Christ Alone!     (Ephesians 2:8)

This is ‘Good News!’  This is thenews’ we need to focus on.  Our Hope is in the Goodness of Christ and the Promises of God’s Word.  Do you Know Him?  Do you Know Who He is and the Attributes of His Character?  If we choose to allow our thoughts to focus on the character of Christ and the Goodness of God, then I believe we will experience His true Peace.  Our fear and anxiety will be turned to Joy and Thanksgiving, for we know He cares for us!  Watch this short clip and may it remind you of all the Goodness of God!

That’s My King by Dr. S.M. Lockridge

Much love and peace to you friends,

Stacey

Learning to ‘Let Go’ and Lean into His ‘Rhythms of Grace’

Every now and then, I come across a “good read” that the Lord uses to grab my attention, simply by the TITLE!  It’s typically something having to do with a particular topic that I just had a discussion with someone about or an area of my life that I’m wrestling with!  I imagine You’ve had your interest sparked by things like that as well!?

Well, Friends, this particular one is just too good not to share ~

The Two Sides of SELF-CARE

In our current world, where the topic of “SELF-CARE has become a major TREND”, I am continually desiring to stay reminded to the TRUTH that

JESUS is the ONE who truly sustains and satisfies.

“GOD is the sole giver of life and strength, joy and peace.”

It is in keeping up with the pace of our busy lives and living in a culture that screams at us to climb the ladder, over extend our human limits, push ourselves beyond reason and BE ALL to ALL, that we often find ourselves burned out, exhausted and barely holding on!

Been there….done that….AND I CRASHED….

Not just once….but I found myself slipping into that place almost for a second time!  You could say, I have a strong temptation to STRIVE!  Some may call it “controlling,” others may call it “uber-responsibility”!  I’ve come to acknowledge it as the desire I have to ‘be all to all’ and ‘do all’.

In an effort to “help others”, one can often lose sight of the healthy boundaries and limitations that God places in our lives in order that we can be used by Him….. a willing vessel in which HE does the work.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10

In this season, I realized that I really needed to be intentional and spend some time learning what it means to

LET GO….

confess the areas of my life that I tended to slip into the sin of SELF-RELIANCE and

LEAN into the RHYTHMS of GOD’S GRACE!

LEARNING

“when we try to do more than what is humanly possible (striving) – which is another way of trying to be like God – we need to Repent and Acknowledge that we are not like God (Isaiah 30:15). We have LIMITS, and we ACCEPT them.

GOD alone is LIMITLESS…..He is GOD and I am NOT.  This means I need to HONOR my human limits by EMBRACING my need for REST, my need for balanced NUTRITION, my need for HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, and ULTIMATELY my need for GOD.”

I am coming to learn the depths of what it means to “LET GO”;  what it means to be FULLY SURRENDERED to the Holy Spirit’s leading in my life. This “LETTING GO” may mean a release of things, circumstances, relationships, responsibilities, that the Lord no longer plans for me to walk in. Or perhaps He is simply desiring to teach me how to be a better STEWARD of the gifts He’s giving me through these things or the ways He’s wanting to use these situations in my life.  He is teaching me to acknowledge my human limits and repent of my tendencies to take on more than what He has called me to. He alone is God ~ He alone is Sovereign and in control.

LEANING INTO HIS GRACE

There is a beauty that comes in learning to Let Go ~ A freedom that we find when we RELY MORE on the TRUTH of God’s Word to be the lamp to our feet and the light to our path! When we realize the POWER of His Spirit indwelling in us that calls to us, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21)!

These verses are a few of the treasures from God’s Word that have led me to this freedom.  This freedom that comes as we learn to surrender more of our lives to Christ.

“But He said to me, ‘My Grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

“The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.” Psalm 23:1-2

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21

He says, “Be still (Let Go), and Know (Intimate, experiential knowledge) that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

So now, my dear friends, I ask you to consider your own lives.  How might God be calling you to stop for a moment, to “let go” and get away to a quiet space to sit with Him? Your Heavenly Father loves and cherishes you and is jealous for time alone with you.  He longs to be your Great Shepherd, leading you to green pastures and quiet waters that refresh your soul!  Where is He leading you to follow Him?

With All My Love and in His Grace,

Stacey

What’s in a Name?

A new season…..but the message remains the same!  I originally posted this in December, 2018 as I was inspired to begin developing a blog and felt God leading me to title it, “Rhythms of Grace”.  A little over a year later, the message of my heart remains the same…The Lord Jesus, the Giver of Life, the Giver of Grace, is the One whom my heart loves leaning into as I continue learning to let Him lead me in this dance!  Are you enjoying your dance?

Click Here to listen to River of Grace by Christy Nockels

So, What’s in a Name?

Why the title, “Living in Rhythms of Grace”?

I believe that God uses His children to inspire and encourage one another and to help us stay reminded of His truths.  He desires to fill our lives with the Light of His Hope so that we might shine brightly for Him and that He would be glorified.  A couple of years ago, my daughter and I had the privilege of meeting singer/songwriter, Christy Nockels. We were so touched by the overflowing presence of God’s Spirit through both Christy’s heart for worship and the beautiful words of the songs she sang. One song in particular spoke directly to my heart and I sensed the prompting for a title!

Rivers of Grace.

There is a place, far from this worried world

Where freedom awaits, that burden you’ve got locked inside, how we tend to hide

So won’t you go there with me

Down to the riverside, Where the water runs free

And you can let your heart swing open wide,

Won’t you swing it open wide

‘Cause baby, you aren’t meant to carry such a load

Lay it down and we can watch it go

Down the river of grace, the river of grace

And all it takes, is a little bit of faith

And Jesus comes, and carries it away

Down the river of grace, the river of grace

Here’s the beautiful thing, that river runs inside you

And you can go anytime, and it’s there your Savior waits for you,

He’s waiting there for you

Cast your every care, cast them way out there

In the river deep, in the endless supply

And feel your heart rise up, from that cleansing flow

So clean and free, so true and alive

So true and alive, so true and alive.

Hearing those words brought life to my soul, reminding me of the beautiful Grace, that never-ending supply that is all-sufficient to meet my every need.  The reminder of truth found in John 1:17, “For the law was given through Moses, but GRACE and TRUTH came through Jesus Christ.”  Grace and Truth go together…we can’t have one without the other…they are inseparable….they live in the embodiment of the character of Jesus Himself.

As a child of God, His Word reminds us that we’ve been given the promise of His Spirit, the guarantee of our inheritance. (Ephesians 1:13-14) Jesus in His amazing, unconditional love for you and I stepped down out of His place in heaven, and humbled Himself by coming to serve, taking on the form of our humanity and demonstrating to us the power of His Grace.  This Grace….such a mystery to our finite minds!  This Grace….something I feel so undeserving of, so unworthy to be given….

BUT GOD…..

GOD, in His Amazing Grace, would love you and I SO MUCH, that He CHOSE to send His Son as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, to pay the penalty that we could never pay on our own.  Yes, in my flesh, I choose to go my own way, determine my own plans, stand for my own justice and “carry loads I was never meant to carry”.  And through it all, Jesus stands, calling to me to “cast my cares on Him” because He cares for me.  He calls me to live in the power of His Spirit, His endless supply of Grace in me, His Truth in me……He washes over me and cleanses me with this abundant, beautiful Grace. It’s by this Grace that I am set free….given the privilege to live the abundant life of Joy and Peace that is truly and completely only found in Jesus.

The “River of Grace” painted such a visual picture for me….the meandering, gentle ebbs and flows of a river…..the bending, twisting turns of the flow of waters moving to and fro over the changing terrain….isn’t that a picture of life?!….Life in its myriad of different seasons, trials and triumphs, losses and gains.  Without the constant flow of living water, the river runs dry; without my constant connection to the One, Jesus, who supplies the LIVING WATER, I run dry.  Jesus said, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, “From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.”

There’s a rhythm here that I want to lean into…a rhythm that causes my heart, mind and soul to want to stay yielded to….to stay reminded of the truth that no matter what season I’m in, there is ONE who is carrying me, calling me, loving me and offering to me His Grace….His Grace that causes me to live, truly alive and free!

It’s here that my soul wants to find rest.  It’s here that I continue to want to learn to live my life.  That I would spend my days, learning to live in these rhythms of His Grace.

All for His Glory,

Stacey

LOVE will cover a multitude of sins….

February…..

❤️ Valentine’s day is quickly approaching….a day typically set aside where many of us are more intentional in finding creative ways to express our love…. To trade in selfishness for selflessness… To invite compassion in exchange for judgement…To celebrate one another in spite of our differences and to offer Grace and Gratitude for the blessing of being in relationship ❤️

I was so encouraged and humbled by the reminders from this Devo this morning and from the exhortation found in

1Peter 4:7-8…

“But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins.”

Check out this short teaching from Christopher Hilken at North Coast Church: What if we lived as if Christ was here and as if He was near? Message by Christopher Hilken. http://bit.ly/dose367

So thankful that we have the opportunity to be in relationship with a God who is always present and who modeled this great sacrificial love for us by sending His Son to a cross to pay the penalty for our sins…a debt we could never pay on our own. No greater love….

With LOVE and sincere prayers,

Stacey
